Governor's budget announcement

Gov. Jerry Brown today announced a budget plan that, if approved by the Legislature, would slash public spending by $12.5 billion. The governor's proposed budget includes a cut of $500 million from the University of California's budget, as well as a cut of $500 million from the California State University system.
