Bone marrow donor registration drive set for Friday, January 20

As part of its community service efforts this quarter, Crown College, College Nine, and College Ten are partnering with DKMS (www.getswabbed.org) to add people to the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) Registry.

Students, staff, faculty, and members of the public are invited to register as potential bone marrow donors. The testing process is simple – swabbing the inside of the cheek with a cotton swab.

If a registrant is identified as a potential match he or she can still choose not to be a donor. Donating is generally as simple as giving blood.

The drive will be held Friday, January 20, 2012  from 10:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.  at the  Namaste Lounge at College Nine and the Red Room at College Eight.

Registering is free although donations for DKMS will be accepted. For more information about registering go to http://crown.ucsc.edu/activities/bone_marrow_event.html or call (831) 459-2101.
