Slug swimmers triumph at Cal Lutheran

After a hard battle in the water, the UCSC women’s swimming team triumphed last week at the California Lutheran University Winter Invitational last Thursday at the Samuelson Aquatics Center in Thousand Oaks.

The UCSC team took the top spot when it bested Whitworth University's swim team  838 to 778.5.  Cal Lutheran took the third spot, and University of La Verne finished fourth.

Standout performers included first-year student Jeanette Dove, who won the women's 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.61, and sophomore Emi Yamauchi taking first place in the women's 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:14.15. Sophomore Daniel Hurst won the men's 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:02.22.
