Humanities Dean Candidate Presentation

On behalf of Sheldon Kamieniecki, Chair of the Humanities Dean Search Committee, I invite the campus community to attend a presentation by William Ladusaw, candidate for the Dean of Humanities.  This presentation about his vision for the Humanities will be held  on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, from 2:00 to 2:45 pm in the Humanities Building I, room 210.  It will be followed by a brief question and answer session.  Opportunities for Humanities faculty, students, and staff to meet with the candidate will follow the open presentation; please refer to the schedule below. 


Professor William Ladusaw
Candidate for the Position of Dean of Humanities
University of California, Santa Cruz

Professor Ladusaw received his Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Texas at Austin in 1979.  After serving as an Assistant Professor of Linguistics at the University of Iowa and a Visiting Professor of Linguistics at UCLA, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor of Linguistics at UC Santa Cruz in 1984.  He was promoted to Full Professor in 1994.  Professor Ladusaw has held important academic administrative leadership positions on the UCSC campus since 1997, including Provost of Cowell College (1997 - 2003), Linguistics Department Chair (1997-1999), and Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Education (2004 – 2010).  He is currently the Interim Dean of Humanities (2010 – present).  Additional information can be found at the Humanities Dean Search website:
