Farm & Garden market cart opens Tuesday, June 7

Farm and Garden market cart
Fresh organic produce and flowers grown at the UCSC Farm & Garden are available for sale Tuesdays and Fridays.

“Opening day” is around the corner, with spring produce and flowers going on sale at the UCSC Farm & Garden’s market cart beginning Tuesday, June 7. The market cart will be open Tuesdays and Fridays from 12 to 6 p.m. at the base of the UC Santa Cruz campus (corner of Bay and High streets).

Early-season offerings include organically grown strawberries, blueberries, and an array of tender lettuces and other greens. As the growing season progresses, shoppers can look forward to sweet corn, dry-farmed tomatoes, plums, potatoes, an array of sweet and hot peppers, apples, pears, basil, and much more.

Flower bouquets are also available weekly. All the produce is grown at the UCSC Farm & Garden by staff and students in the Apprenticeship in Ecological Horticulture training program.

The Market Cart will be open through October. For more information, call (831) 459-3240 or e-mail casfs@ucsc.edu.
