COVID-19 information forum planned for Feb. 12

To: UC Santa Cruz Community

From: Sarah Latham, Vice Chancellor, Business and Administrative Services

UC Santa Cruz will hold its next COVID-19 information forum from 9:30–11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 12.

The forum, which will be streamed online, will provide an opportunity to give an update on campus COVID-19 recovery and resiliency efforts and address questions from our campus community.  The format will be similar to previous COVID-19 forums with a presentation on current activities followed by a question-and-answer session.

If you have a question you would like answered during the forum, you can pose it in advance using this online form. Any questions not addressed during the session will be covered in a follow-up FAQ. The forum will be recorded and can be viewed at any time by those unable to attend the live session.

Since COVID-19 emerged just over a year ago, our campus community and our university operations have gone through change, uncertainty and countless impacts to our daily lives both on and off-campus. Throughout the journey, our fellow Slugs have stepped in and stepped up to work on COVID-19 response, resumption and resiliency planning. We have learned a lot and are in a continual cycle of planning and adaptation.

Our attention is not only on the short-term tasks at hand, such as testing, vaccination planning, and other tactical efforts, but also on the longer-term horizon as we look to the start of the 2021-22 academic year in fall. Last month, the University of California announced that all 10 campuses were planning to be primarily in-person. There is a lot we do not yet know, but teams across a variety of planning topics are busy working through scenarios and developing guidance.

Thanks to everyone who is working so diligently to support the campus community as we work through COVID-19. You can learn more at the campus COVID-19 website.
