Lawrence Andrews to serve as interim dean of the Arts Division
The appointment begins July 1, 2025. Larry has served as the division’s associate dean of Faculty Affairs since 2019. He joined UC Santa Cruz in 1991.

UCSC University Librarian Elizabeth Cowell to retire
Cowell has served in the UC Santa Cruz leadership for 17 years and more than 30 years in higher education. Associate University Librarian Kerry Scott will serve as Interim University Librarian beginning January 2026.

Christina Ravelo named next Vice Provost for Academic Affairs
Ravelo is a Distinguished Professor of Ocean Sciences and is currently serving as the Interim Director of the Institute of Marine Sciences. She has been a member of the UC Santa Cruz faculty since 1992.

Supporting International Students, Faculty, and Scholars
Last week, the federal government began terminating the F-1 records of international students across the country, including three within our campus community. We have been working to understand the situation through discussion with UC international and Federal Governmental Relations offices as well as UC Office of the President (UCOP) and national sources.
