The Bay Tree Building is officially closed as construction work begins on a major transformation that will infuse fresh energy, modern design, and new opportunities for connection right at the heart of campus. This upgrade will create a space that is welcoming, accessible, and reflective of how students learn, gather, and thrive today.

Departments and services previously located in Bay Tree have moved to new temporary or permanent locations to make way for the renovation. The Bay Tree Campus Store has temporarily relocated to the Granary building near the campus main entrance. The Disability Resource Center (DRC) has permanently moved to Kerr Hall. A full list of updated office locations is available in the table below.

Access to other buildings in Quarry Plaza and to Quarry Amphitheater remain open. Pedestrian access via the stairs and path that connect McLaughlin Drive near the Crown/Merrill bus stop to Quarry Plaza also remain open. Construction fencing is up around the Bay Tree Building and part of Parking Lot 102.

Plans for the 41,000-square-foot facility call for a brand-new student lounge; an expansive open area for meeting, studying, and hanging out; a reimagined campus market designed with student needs in mind; and a central home for the campus resource centers. Bringing these services together under one roof will make it easier than ever for students to access support, build community, and feel at home.

The project is expected to take approximately two years to complete, with the renovated building opening during the 2027-28 academic year.
