The University of California (UC) is launching an updated ethics briefing for all employees as part of its continued commitment to integrity, compliance, and accountability across the UC system.
The UC Ethics and Compliance Briefing (ECB) is a mandatory course that reinforces UC’s Ethical Values and Standards of Ethical Conduct and covers key compliance topics including privacy, export controls, accessibility, conflicts of interest and related issues, and the Whistleblower and Whistleblower Protection policies.
Key Details
- Audience: The UC Ethics and Compliance Briefing (ECB) is mandatory for all UC employees (excluding extramurally funded researchers who take a different briefing specifically for researchers).
- Length: The course will take approximately 30 minutes to complete and has four optional mini modules employees may take to learn more about UC governance structure, accessibility, the Disqualification Rule, and supervisor responsibilities under the Whistleblower and Whistleblower Protection policies.
- Languages: The ECB will be available in English, Spanish, and Tagalog. PDF versions will also be available.
- Timeline for Completion: 60 days from the date of assignment.
- Frequency: All employees must complete the course every two years.
