UC Santa Cruz will experience a planned power outage Sunday, September 7, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The outage will impact most of the residential campus, including all ten colleges and many upper campus facilities. During the planned power outage, the Cogeneration Plant will remain online and installed generators will provide power back-up for some, but not all, campus facilities.

Power will not be affected at Family Student Housing, Employee Housing, Ranch View Terrace, the Arboretum, Westside Research Park, Coastal Science Campus, or Scotts Valley Center.

To provide permanent power to the new Family Student Housing and Child Care Center project at Hagar and Coolidge drives, PG&E electricians must connect the site to UC Santa Cruz’s primary substation. The repairs will require an estimated 12-hour power outage to the residential campus.

Additional information will be shared as soon as it is available, and ongoing updates will be posted online. You can find more information on how to plan for the power outage in the campus message sent out on August 7.This message was sent to faculty and staff, and students currently living on campus.
