Get involved at Banana Slug Day and Transfer Day 2025

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions invites campus participation in their largest on-campus events for newly admitted students – Banana Slug Day and Transfer Day.

Banana Slug Day on April 12 will include presentations and panels, mock lectures, addresses from Chancellor Cynthia Larive and CPEVC Lori Kletzer, campus tours, tours of the Jack Baskin School of Engineering and the Coastal Science Campus and much more.

These signature campus events at UC Santa Cruz are designed to welcome admitted students and help them discover more about the campus community. Banana Slug Day is dedicated to admitted first-year students, offering many opportunities to connect with faculty, staff, and current students, showcasing the unique UC Santa Cruz experience. Transfer Day is tailored for admitted transfer students, focusing on their specific needs with specialized resources, advising, and support to ensure a seamless transition. Both events play a critical role in building connections and helping students commit to joining the UC Santa Cruz community. Participation will be incredibly valuable as admitted students and their families get ready to make an important decisio for their academic future.

These will be the largest Banana Slug Day and Transfer Day events yet, and there are many ways to get involved.

Ways to Participate

1) Resource Fair

Admissions will be organizing a Resource Fair throughout the day.Departments are encouraged to participate in our Resource Fair, with tabling opportunities for academic programs, research programs, student support services, student organizations, and more.

2) Faculty Mock Lectures

We are seeking faculty members interested in hosting a lecture or workshop during Banana Slug Day. These sessions should be geared toward admitted first-year students and their families/guests who are considering accepting their UCSC admissions offer. Join us in welcoming Admitted First-Year students and their families by showcasing the academic community and resources that UC Santa Cruz has to offer!
