Instruction during heat wave

Dear Colleagues,

As an unusual heat wave continues in our region, I write to remind instructors that you are always empowered to change modalities temporarily if you believe doing so is in the best interests of health and safety and supports student learning. Going remote is an excellent alternative to canceling or abbreviating a class session, particularly for classes later in the day, when classrooms and lecture halls have heated up throughout the day. The heat is expected to abate somewhat by Friday, October 4th, and temperature to return to normal by Tuesday, October 8th.

Sincerely,
Lori
