UCSC’s Season of Giving - Three ways to give

To: UCSC Community

From: Public Affairs

We are so grateful to be part of a campus community that values giving back! We’re about to enter a season of giving to various efforts that uplift folks in Santa Cruz County, both on and off campus:
  • UCSC United Way of Santa Cruz County Campaign
  • UCSC’s very own Giving Day
  • UCSC’s Holiday Food & Fund Drive

This year, the three efforts are collaborating to support each effort in its turn. We’re sending out this message ahead of time so you know what’s coming up and can refer back to it throughout this season of giving.

United Way
We officially kick off this year’s UC Santa Cruz employee campaign in support of United Way of Santa Cruz County on November 1, 2024. Our 2024-2025 campaign, United We Thrive, highlights the collective power we have when we come together to build a stronger, more resilient community. The campaign runs through Nov. 30, 2024.

Giving Day
Mark your calendars and join us on November 20 for UC Santa Cruz’s annual Giving Day–a 24-hour online fundraising event to raise funding to enhance the UCSC student experience. Giving Day is a chance for the campus, alumni, and the community to come together to make a meaningful impact on UC Santa Cruz students.

Holiday Food & Fund Drive
The entire UCSC community is invited to participate in our annual Holiday Food & Fund Drive (HFFD) that supports the Second Harvest Food Bank, which gives fresh food and nutrition education to our students and employees all year long.
  • Last year, UCSC students donated $24,567! This year, you can participate by donating up to $50 of flexi$, Slug Points, and Banana Bucks between: Nov. 18 and Dec. 12, 2024. More info coming soon. Email studentvolunteercenter@ucsc.edu with any questions.
  • Everyone is welcome to donate to the UCSC HFFD effort from now until Jan 15, 2025. If you want your division or department to have their own UCSC group page, please reach out to ucscSAB@ucsc.edu and we’ll create it for you right away!

Thank you for engaging in this season of giving!

Sincerely,
UCSC United Way Campaign
