National Society of Leadership and Success will soon send spring invitations

Invitations for UC Santa Cruz’s chapter of The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) will be sent to eligible students in the coming weeks. These invitations typically bring questions, so this is intended to provide awareness of the organization and support you in answering any student inquiries.

The National Society of Leadership and Success

The NSLS at UC Santa Cruz is an active student leadership organization available for membership at the beginning of our spring and fall quarters. Our new chapter will bring student members together as they join over 1.5 million other members nationwide. Dr. Ebonée Williams, Associate Vice Chancellor of Student Success and Equity, will serve as Chapter Advisor, helping to mentor and guide Jojo Ajayi, as Chapter President, in leading the executive board to support their peers’ leadership development.

What is The National Society of Leadership and Success?

The NSLS is the largest and only accredited leadership development program in the nation, with more than 750 chapters and over 1.5 million members. With a flexible online curriculum, the NSLS is perfect for all students, especially those who are balancing full course loads with families and full-time jobs. The UCSC student executive board will host their first in-person NSLS event on May 6th.

The NSLS aligns with our mission of teaching students skills that will last a lifetime. Throughout the program, students hone valuable, in-demand skill sets that hiring managers specifically look for, including leadership, relationship-building, goal-setting, and effective communication.

Member Experience and Benefits

The Foundations of Leadership program takes approximately nine hours or less to complete at the students’ own pace. Here, they will get to experience Speaker Broadcasts, which bring high-profile leaders exclusively to members, including former Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush, Dr. Bernice King, Mark Cuban, and many others. Beyond the leadership training, our members become part of a community of fellow leaders across the nation, where they’ll network and make lifelong connections. On top of the skills they learn and connections they make, NSLS membership provides access to over $400,000 in scholarships each year, along with many partner discounts to help them save even more. Once students complete the program, they become inducted members and gain access to even more benefits, including personalized letters of recommendation, an exclusive NSLS job board, additional scholarships, and opportunities for advanced leadership education, allowing them to earn credits as they learn to lead.
