UC Santa Cruz is launching a national search for the next director of Athletics & Recreation. The department plays a critical role in enhancing the student experience through athletic activities, and the wellbeing of all members of our community through recreational activities.
Professor Tesla Jeltema will chair the search committee. We have retained the executive search firm Spelman Johnson to assist in this recruitment. We aim to complete the search by the end of the year.
The director of Athletics & Recreation reports administratively to the Office of the CP/EVC and oversees UC Santa Cruz’s intercollegiate athletics and intramural, recreation, and wellness programs.
I am grateful to Courtnie Prather who has served as the interim director of the Athletics & Recreation Department since May. She will continue to serve as interim director until a new director arrives on campus.
