Banana Slug Day parking restrictions

To: UC Santa Cruz Community

From: Michelle Whittingham, Associate Vice Chancellor, Enrollment Management, and Interim Director, Undergraduate Admissions

Undergraduate Admissions’ upcoming campuswide event for admitted students and families, Banana Slug Day, has had a record-breaking response and is completely full, even after capacity was expanded by 1,000.  We are expecting approximately 2,500 students and family members.  Nearly 2,000 people remain on the waiting list.  We have closed registration to new attendees, yet hope to accommodate as many of the guests from the waitlist as possible.

Banana Slug Day is on Saturday, April 15, a day that also coincides with our Alumni Reunion Weekend and a few other events.

As you can imagine, campus parking and facilities will be heavily impacted. Undergraduate Admissions and Transportation & Parking Services (TAPS) request everyone’s cooperation by NOT parking in the following on April 15:

  • East Remote lot and Overflow 5 (Lot 104)
  • Hahn Student Services lot (Lot 101)
  • Hay Barn lot (Lot 170)

If you have a car in any of these lots on April 14, please remove it by the end of the day to allow for maximum parking capacity. For alternative parking options, please refer to the TAPS parking map. All posted permit requirements and enforcement times will remain unchanged.

Finally, if you are planning to come to campus on April 15, consider using public transportation to help leave space for our many visitors and guests.

Thank you very much for your patience and understanding as we make room for our guests on their special UC Santa Cruz weekend!
