California General Election

Tuesday, November 8th is Election Day in California for the General Election. 

All California active registered voters will receive a vote-by-mail ballot for the November 8, General Election. Your county elections office mailed out ballots on October 10, 2022.

Your General Election ballot will include:

  • 7 Ballot Propositions
  • Statewide candidates for U.S. Senate, Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, Controller, Treasurer, Attorney General, Insurance Commissioner, Member of State Board of Equalization, State Superintendent of Public Instruction
  • U.S. Representative in Congress, State Senator, State Assembly Member
  • Supreme Court Justices, as well as other local candidates and local measures.

Return your vote-by-mail ballot by mail with prepaid postage as long as it's postmarked on or before Election Day and received by November 15, 2022, or in-person to a secure ballot drop box, to a voting location or your county elections office by 8:00 p.m. on November 8, 2022. How can I vote?

All California active registered voters will receive a vote-by-mail ballot. Your county elections office will begin mailing ballots by October 10, 2022. 

Voting is a citizen's fundamental right, and UC Santa Cruz urges you to let your voice be heard. This year, the campus is making it as easy as possible for you to cast your ballot.

Where can I vote?

There will be one in-person voting site on the main campus. This voting site will be located at the Stevenson Event Center.  It will be open for 4 days; Saturday-Tuesday November 5-8. They will accept mail-in ballots. 

  • Stevenson College Event Center (101 McLaughlin Dr, Santa Cruz) 
    • Saturday, November 5th: Voting 9am-5pm
    • Sunday, November 6th: Voting 9am-5pm
    • Monday, November 7th: Voting 8am – 5pm
    • Tuesday, November 8th: Voting 7am – 8pm (Election Day)
  • Silicon Valley Campus Room 2110
    • Saturday, November 5th: Voting 9am-5pm
    • Sunday, November 6th: Voting 9am-5pm
    • Monday, November 7th: Voting 8am – 5pm
    • Tuesday, November 8th: Voting 7am – 8pm (Election Day)

Finally, you may also deposit your completed ballot in the Official Ballot Drop Box that has been installed in Quarry Plaza in front of Bay Tree Bookstore. If you have a mail ballot and are registered in Santa Cruz County, you can mail it before November 8th or hand it in at any polling place on Election Day. 

Voter Registration

You can register to vote online.

The State of California is also allowing Conditional Voter Registration. You can register and vote conditionally at any voting site and at the Santa Cruz County Votemobile which will be on campus November 1, 2022 in the Quarry Plaza. Conditional ballots will be processed once the county elections office has completed the voter registration verification process. You will need to bring your California driver’s license or Social Security Number and you will need to provide your dorm room and campus PO box if you live on campus. 

I don’t know where I am registered, can I look it up online

Yes. You can go to VoterStatus.sos.ca.gov and look up your voter information. If you need to change anything, you can go to RegisterToVote.ca.gov and change it.
