Dear Campus Community,
I am sharing the bittersweet news that Lorena Peñaloza has accepted an offer to serve as the chief campus counsel for UC Riverside.
Since joining UC Santa Cruz in 2017, Lorena has provided our campus with clear and thoughtful legal guidance, always offered in the best interests of our university. I have deeply valued her counsel and know that she has partnered with many senior leaders and others across campus to inform and help guide many important decisions. She has also been a great leader and mentor, building a talented team of attorneys and other legal staff.
I appreciate Lorena’s willingness to continue serving our campus through the end of the calendar year, and we are working with the UC Office of General Counsel to identify an interim leader to serve until we complete a recruitment for Lorena’s successor.
Please join me in thanking Lorena for her service to UC Santa Cruz and congratulating her on this new opportunity.
