Application period opens for Vice Chancellor for Finance, Operations and Administration

The application period for Vice Chancellor for Finance, Operations and Administration is now open. The position is a key one at UC Santa Cruz, as the VC-FOA is entrusted with a wide range of responsibilities. Colleges, Housing and Educational Services; Financial Affairs; Physical Planning, Development and Operations; Risk and Safety Services; Staff Human Resources; and Sustainability are all units within the division.

The position was previously known as Vice Chancellor for Business and Administrative Services (BAS). The name of the division and the position were formally changed July 1 to better reflect the division’s key functions. 

Stakeholder meetings were held in May to gather input on the qualifications necessary for the position. Campus Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Lori Kletzer is chairing the search. Opus Partners, a leading national executive search firm, is assisting. Campus leaders hope to complete the search by the end of the 2022 calendar year.

Biju Kamaleswaran, Associate Vice Chancellor, Financial Affairs and Campus Controller, has been serving as interim vice chancellor since the start of January. He will continue in that role until the new vice chancellor arrives on campus.
