I am happy to share with you that the Student Health Center has expanded its availability of COVID-19 booster shots to faculty, students, and staff with a series of clinics in January.
Booster shot clinics will be held on Jan. 19, 20, and 21, 2022, at the Stevenson Event Center. You can make an appointment for a Moderna booster shot through Health e-Messenger.
You are eligible for a booster if it’s been at least two months since receiving the J&J COVID-19 vaccine or five months since your second Moderna or Pfizer dose.
We have a limited capacity for faculty and staff appointments on these dates, so we are asking employees to sign up as soon as possible and, if not, to take advantage of free and available booster doses in Santa Cruz county. You can obtain a booster dose from a local provider or pharmacy such as CVS, Walgreens, or Safeway. We are also hoping to have additional availability on campus in the near future.
For Students
For more information on booster clinics and eligibility requirements, please visit the Student Health Center’s COVID-19 Vaccines page.
For those not in the area, you can find a location administering booster shots near you on California’s MyTurn website.
For Employees
Employees may be granted up to four hours of paid time off to obtain their vaccine or booster shots. This applies to the vaccine and/or booster appointments that are available on-campus or off-campus.
Non-exempt employees may use up to four hours of EPSL or have “release time” per dose of each vaccine, which means 4 hours per shot (8 hours if a 2-dose regimen) and 4 hours for a booster. If employees don't have EPSL banks, they just get release time. They should note it as "COVID vaccine" or "COVID booster" on their CruzPay sheet.
Exempt employees do not need to note anything on their timesheets as long as they work for any other part of the day. Additional information for employees can be found on the SHR website.
Please remember that the deadline to get your booster and submit proof is Jan. 31. Employees and students who receive a booster through a campus clinic do not need to submit proof through e-Health Messenger. Instructions for submitting proof of obtaining an off-campus booster can be found online.
Thank you for doing your part to keep our campus community healthy.
