In Memoriam: Eduardo “Eddie” Aguilera, Dining Services

To: UC Santa Cruz Community

From: Bill Prime, Executive Director Dining and Hospitality Services

It is with deep sadness that I write to share the news regarding the death of one of our Dining employees. Eduardo Aguilera “Eddie” worked for UCSC Dining Services as a Shift Manager at the Colleges 9 & 10 Dining Hall. Eddie was born in Yuriria, Guanajuato, Mexico in 1966. When he was 4 years old, his family moved to Chicago where he spent most of his life. In 1991, he moved to Salinas, California. He then came to work at UCSC in August of 2019.

His wife Claudia let me know that Eddie has worked most of his career in the Food Service industry. She shared with me that he was a very compassionate and giving person. Every place he has worked he has made friends and helped fellow coworkers whenever he could.

Eddie clearly made an impact on all of us in Dining in the short period he worked for us.

Notification of Eddie’s passing came from his wife Claudia. Claudia, their daughter and son survive Eddie.

From the UCSC Dining Family to the Aguilera Family we offer our sincere condolences.

Dining Services and the greater UCSC Community mourn his passing.
