Additional student space for studying, private appointments

The increased use of video conferencing for healthcare appointments, group meetings, and remote/online instruction has underscored a need for more student space on campus. 

We are pleased to share that for fall quarter UC Santa Cruz is able to provide students with additional reservable space on campus for confidential meetings and drop-in space for studying. This kind of multipurpose space is important both for supporting students with their studies and overall well being.

We want to thank the University Library, the Office of the Registrar and the Dean of Students for identifying these spaces and making them available to our students. 

Study rooms in the McHenry Library and Science and Engineering Library can now be reserved for both individual and group use. The 28 rooms can be reserved up to a week in advance and for up to four hours at a time. 

Additionally, there are two rooms available for reservation in the Dean of Students Office in the Hahn Student Services Building. Both offices are best suited for private video conferencing meetings. Those rooms can be reserved online.

Study Space

UC Santa Cruz has 10 classrooms across campus that are open most days from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. for students in need of a relatively quiet space to focus on their studies. The classrooms are equipped with power strips to enable more students to charge their computers and other devices. These classrooms are planned to be open through fall quarter.
