Dear Campus Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce that Professor of Linguistics Adrian Brasoveanu has agreed to serve as Associate Campus Provost.
In this half-time role, Adrian will work with campus leadership on critical projects including institutional research and assessment, interdisciplinary research initiatives, space and resource management, strategic enrollment planning, and other campus initiatives.
Our campus will greatly benefit from Adrian’s analytical expertise, and his understanding of campus issues and challenges. He has been active in service to our campus, serving on our Committee on Planning and Budget, chairing the Humanities Division Committee on Academic Personnel, and chairing the Senate Committee on Career Advising. He also served as a Faculty Administrative Leadership Program fellow, working on the design, consultation process, and launch of our Pathway to Retirement program.
Adrian earned his M.A. and B.A. degrees from the University of Bucharest, and his Ph.D. from Rutgers University. Before joining UC Santa Cruz in 2008, Adrian was a postdoctoral fellow in the Mellon Fellowship of Scholars in the Humanities program at Stanford University. As a formal semanticist and a computational psycholinguist, he looks at linguistic meaning and how the human mind grasps it.
Sincerely,
Lori
