Campus revamping writing programs for assistant, associate professors impacted by the pandemic

In response to the concerns of faculty whose research was adversely impacted by the pandemic, the campus is revamping and funding two peer-support writing programs to help faculty advance their research with teaching relief: The EVC Fellows Academy and Writing Fellows (formerly Writing Circles).

The EVC Fellows Academy 2.0 is a program for associate professors that provides a mutual accountability framework for faculty to make progress on their writing projects.

Writing Fellows is a program for assistant professors that uses a peer support model supplemented by targeted mentoring from an associate professor. Both of these are open to faculty at any stage of writing, broadly construed, including books, articles, films, and other research and creative projects that can benefit from a group feedback structure.

The application deadline for the EVC Fellows Academy is Friday, April 23. The Writing Fellows application portal is open and applications will be due Monday, May 3, 2021.
