The Quarry Amphitheater and Womxn’s Center are pleased to invite you to the Winter Live! from the (virtual) Quarry live stream concert on Friday, Feb. 19 at 6 pm.
We are excited to present Mexican Indie Pop singer and composer, Carla Morrison, with special guest, Irene Diaz, Los Angeles based singer and songstress. Both artists will be performing from their own home studios. This is an exclusive performance for UC Santa Cruz, towards the end each artist will be taking questions from the audience.
Carla Morrison is from Tecate, Mexico. She has multiple Grammy nominations and Latin Grammy wins over the course of five albums. Morrison has performed at major music festivals in America and Europe, including Coachella, Lollapalooza (Chile), Vive Latino Festival among others. She has toured extensively and has collaborated with an eclectic list of artists, including Lila Downs, Calexico, Macklemore, Ryan Lewis, and J Balvin.
Special guest, Irene Diaz was raised in Los Angeles’ Highland Park. She has been playing music since she was 7 years old, mastering piano and then guitar; but her greatest instrument is her voice. Her latest album, Lovers & Friends, with its captivating melodies and richly nuanced ambiance, was recorded in both Mexico City and Los Angeles and executive-produced by Carla Morrison. Lovers & Friends is, in effect, a new beginning for Diaz and a fresh destination for what’s been a long musical path. Lovers & Friends is expected to release in 2021.
Registration to this special event is free. More information is available at quarry.ucsc.edu. For accessibility accommodation information, please contact quarry@ucsc.edu.
