Vice Provost and Dean of Graduate Studies search

To: UC Santa Cruz community

From: Campus Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Lori Kletzer

I write today to update you on our campus search for a new Vice Provost and Dean of Graduate Studies.

We have launched a national recruitment for this position and have assembled a search committee that will be co-chaired by Jennifer Baszile, interim Vice Chancellor for the Division of Student Affairs and Success, and Alexander Wolf, Dean of the Baskin School of Engineering. We have retained the executive search firm R. William Funk & Associates to assist us in the recruitment.

For more information about the search, a full job description, a list of the committee members, a recruitment timeline, and details on how members of the campus community can provide input on the eventual candidates, visit our Dean of Graduate Studies Recruitment website. If you would like to apply, please send a letter of interest, CV, and a statement of contributions to diversity, equity and inclusion to Krisha Creal at krisha.creal@rwilliamfunk.com. If you wish to nominate someone for consideration, also email krisha.creal@rwilliamfunk.com.

As has been our practice for other recruitments since March, the recruitment process will be entirely remote. We aim to have a new dean on board by July 1.

I am very grateful to Quentin Williams for his service as acting/interim grad dean since July 2019, and I am pleased that he has agreed to remain as interim dean until a permanent replacement is in place. I am deeply appreciative of his efforts.

If you have any questions, please contact Lauren Morgan, our Senior Leader Human Resources Manager, at llmorgan@ucsc.edu or email Krisha Creal at krisha.creal@rwilliamfunk.com.

The graduate studies dean plays a key role on our campus. I look forward to your participation and input in this search.
