Dear colleagues,
We want to take a moment to thank you for all you do to support our campus community. The disruptions we’ve experienced have made your jobs, which already can be extraordinarily challenging, even more so. Despite the power outages, the grading and teaching strikes, and now concerns about COVID-19, the staff members on our campus have continued to work incredibly hard to support our students and our mission. We know it has not been easy, and we thank you wholeheartedly for all you have done to keep us on track and our standards high.
The high cost of living animating our graduate student protest is an issue many in our community face, and we want to acknowledge our staff members who manage long commutes, support families and friends, and who everyday bring professionalism and compassion to their roles at the university. Your work supports access to higher education in our state and cutting edge research that changes lives. More than that, you make our campus a community. We are proud to be on this team and to get to work alongside you.
We also want to remind you that there are a range of resources to help faculty and staff through difficult moments in their personal and professional lives. In particular, we highlight the Employee Assistance Program, a confidential resource that helps identify, counsel and refer employees to professional resources when dealing with any number of issues, as well as the benefits that come with your health plans.
We are committed to advocating for the resources we need to fulfill the promise of this very special place. We know we will have more challenging days to work through and additional problems to solve. We also know that, together, this community is up to the challenge.
