Responding to requests for campus assistance

To: UC Santa Cruz Faculty and Staff

From: Office of Emergency Services

As UC Santa Cruz continues to manage its response to the COVID-19 pandemic, campus employees may be asked directly to lend assistance and support for our local partners.

Requests for materials and assistance may include personal protective equipment (masks, gloves, etc.), sanitizing materials, and cleaning supplies. Requests may also come in for use of housing space, food, equipment, and related emergency response support.

Fighting the spread of COVID-19 is a community-wide effort, and the campus is working closely with public health officials. We want to make sure we are doing what we can to take care of our campus community and help our local community.

Any requests that fall into these categories should be referred directly to the campus Office of Emergency Services (oes@ucsc.edu). We ask that staff and faculty refrain from directly donating university goods and services. The campus needs to keep track of our inventory for UC-related needs and/or to centrally coordinate support for regional medical service providers. The UC Office of the President is also tracking the personal protective equipment on the campuses to ensure that we can keep our UC health facilities operating.

We appreciate your support for this request and invite any questions that you may have at oes@ucsc.edu.
