Dear Housing Group,
You are receiving this message because you indicated the need for a Late Checkout to remove your belongings from your university residence and complete the move-out process. We are writing to urge you to promptly complete your move-out as soon as you are able to do so.
Your belongings are occupying a space that is now greatly needed. In order to accommodate students who must remain on campus, while providing appropriate physical distancing, we will be relocating hundreds of students on campus to new rooms. We also want to ensure that you are able to remove your belongings from your residence before these spaces may be utilized for other purposes, including potential isolation or quarantine housing.
Due to the rapidly evolving needs of our campus, we are setting a firm deadline of April 19 for students who requested a late checkout to completely vacate their spaces.
- If your requested checkout date is earlier than this date, then please plan to vacate according to your earlier scheduled date.
- If your requested checkout date was later than this date, then you will need to take action to comply. If you are unable to retrieve your belongings by that date, consider contracting with a personal moving service to pack your belongings and ship them to you. Many services are available, and focus on university students who need their rooms packed and their belongings shipped or stored. One option for shipping and/or storage of your belongings is Dormbox*, though there are other similar moving companies and you are encouraged to research your options.
As stated in our previous communication, students who complete their move-out (i.e. remove all belongings and return any university keys) by April 5 will be eligible for a full refund of any housing and dining fees paid for spring quarter. We will continue to offer full spring quarter housing refunds to students who complete their move-out by April 19. We will not be able to process any adjustment to your university account until you have completed the move-out process.
Anyone who is still in residence after April 19 should plan to be reassigned to a new residential location. Additionally, anyone who is still in residence after this date, or whose belongings remain in residence, will be subject to a prorated housing charge from the start of the quarter to the date their move-out is completed. If necessary, students may also be subject to an additional fee of up to $500 to have belongings packed and shipped.
Sincerely,
Student Housing Services
