As you are aware, construction has been ongoing at the East Remote parking lot for a project to install solar panels and batteries for energy storage. Part of the efforts associated with completing the project require campus electrical shutdowns. These shutdowns, originally scheduled for Saturday, March 21, and Saturday, March 28, have been cancelled and will be rescheduled for a later date. As a result, campus electrical services will not be interrupted as originally planned.
The decision to cancel the planned electrical shutdown is directly related to our ability to ensure the safety, availability of necessary resources, and successful completion in light of the recent COVID-19 outbreak. This was especially important with respect to the potential impact to residents and academic research, as we realize all functions are operating at reduced levels to respond to unanticipated conditions.
Physical Planning, Development, and Operations (PPDO) will be working on a revised shutdown plan and will communicate updated information to the campus as it becomes available.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your cooperation and patience as we collectively work to mitigate the spread and impact of COVID-19.
