Planned campuswide electrical shutdown to be rescheduled

To: UC Santa Cruz Community

From: Physical Planning, Development, and Operations

As you are aware, the campus has been working on a project that will install solar panels and batteries for energy storage in the East Remote parking lot. Part of the efforts associated with this project included a planned campus electrical shutdown. This shutdown, originally scheduled for December 26–30, has now been rescheduled for spring 2020. As a result, campus electrical services will be on as normal during the winter break.

The revision to our planned shutdown time frame is a campus decision to ensure the availability of necessary resources and the project’s successful completion.  It is not anticipated to influence the overall project schedule.

Information regarding the rescheduled shutdown will be forthcoming in January. Physical Planning, Development, and Operations (PPDO) will be working on a revised shutdown plan that also considers an approach that minimizes impacts to the campus as we recognize there are more activities taking place in spring than during the winter break. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Please have a safe and happy holiday.
