UCPath - How It Affects Your Paycheck!

Dear Colleagues:

UCPath is coming! In January 2020, UCPath will “go live” for our campus. Employees paid monthly will have their first UCPath payroll date on Jan. 2. Employees who are paid biweekly will have their first UCPath payroll date on Jan. 8.

UCPath is the new human resources (HR) information system for the UC system, consolidating processing functions for payroll, benefits, budget, and related HR transactions. It also expands online self-service for employees and managers. UCPath is already implemented for more than 60% of UC employees.

Dedicated and knowledgeable teams, project managers, and campus leaders have worked behind the scenes to prepare for a smooth transition from the 35-year old Personnel Payroll System (PPS) to UCPath, and now they need your help.

Actions for You to Take

Not Currently Using Direct Deposit?

It is very important to take these steps by Friday, Nov. 15. Employees currently collecting paper paychecks received notification about anticipated impacts. Effective in January 2020, paper paychecks will be sent to home addresses. Paper paychecks will no longer be sent to campus addresses. Checks will be mailed on the actual payroll dates which means employees could be waiting 2-3 days (or more) for their checks.

If possible for you, a better option is to sign up (here) for direct deposit by Nov. 15 to be effective for January 2020 paychecks. Also

  1. Log in to At Your Service Online (AYSO), and

  2. Make sure your home address is correct and complete.

Already using Direct Deposit?

For payroll dates beginning in January 2020, direct deposit information will automatically carry over into UCPath. 85% of UC Santa Cruz employees already use direct deposit. Effective January 1, earning statements (pay stubs) for employees will be accessed by logging into the UCPath portal, instead of AYSO

Additional deadlines and information will be published on the campus’s UCPath website.

UCPath Training

During fall and winter quarters, individuals across campus who have responsibility for transactions in UCPath will attend training sessions relevant to their roles. UCPath partners --in the Academic Personnel Office (APO), Financial Affairs, Planning & Budget (P&B), and Staff Human Resources (SHR)-- will organize training and contact campus users directly.

  • In September, approximately 300 future UCPath campus users received invitations to register for web-based learning management system (LMS) training.

  • In mid-October, in-person instructor-led training begins.

  • Two short videos highlight the UCPath self-service “portal” features for employees and managers.

Learn more. Please visit the campus’s UCPath website or inquire with your division’s UCPath Strategic Implementation Partner (SIP). The UCOP website contains additional background.
