CITRIS and the Banatao Institute at UC Santa Cruz invites campus investigators to apply for research support through a new Campus Seed Funding program for early-stage research that includes a focus on information technology and proposes to solve a significant societal issue.
This new campus program is separate from the broader CITRIS Core Seed Funding initiative, which funds collaborative research between the four CITRIS campuses. The campus program focuses on strengthening interdisciplinary connections on the UC Santa Cruz campus. It will provide funding up to $40,000 for teams of at least two principal investigators from different divisions on campus.
"We've started this new UC Santa Cruz campus seed funding program in order to forge new research relationships across divisions, in line with our mission of solving societal problems with information technology solutions," said J.J. Garcia-Luna-Aceves, director of CITRIS and the Banatao Institute at UC Santa Cruz. "We also envision it helping develop ideas that can lead to larger grants and other funding and are committed to supporting CITRIS PIs here on campus through that process."
Online and in-person information sessions for potential applicants will be held in early June. Dates and details will be posted on the Campus Seed Funding web page at citris.sites.ucsc.edu/ucsc-campus-seed-funding.
