I am delighted to announce that Quentin Williams, associate vice chancellor for research, has agreed to serve as UC Santa Cruz's acting vice provost and dean of graduate studies, effective June 1.
Quentin takes over for Lori Kletzer, who will serve as interim campus provost and executive vice chancellor, also effective June 1.
Quentin brings a wealth of academic and administrative experience to the graduate studies role. He is a distinguished professor in the department of earth and planetary sciences, and a former chair of the department. He has been at UC Santa Cruz since 1988, and has previously chaired the Santa Cruz division of the Academic Senate, our campus Graduate Council, and the council's systemwide counterpart, the Coordinating Committee on Graduate Affairs.
I am deeply appreciative of Quentin's willingness to serve the division and the campus in this capacity.
