I write to share the news that Susan Solt has resigned as dean of the Arts Division, effective immediately.
Susan assumed the role in August of 2016. She championed the notion of creative entrepreneurship and hired talented new faculty. Those new colleagues joined an impressive and dynamic community of artists, creators, and scholars. Our Arts Division contributes so much to the distinctive identity of UC Santa Cruz, and I have great excitement about their ongoing work and their impact on our future.
Dean of Graduate Studies Lori Kletzer will continue to serve as interim arts dean until another interim dean is named, which is expected soon. The campus will conduct a national search for a new arts dean.
