Labor demonstrations may impact campus dining operations

To: UC Santa Cruz Community

From: UC Santa Cruz Dining

Previously, you received notice about a planned AFSCME 3299 labor strike, announced to occur May 7-10. It is unknown how the strike will impact our campus, however, it is anticipated that dining halls may not have adequate staffing to serve prepared food during this time. We also anticipate that all cafes and restaurants operated by UCSC Dining may be closed.

In the event that demonstrations block access to campus, UCSC Dining will open locations based on staff and resource availability.

Stay informed!

You can find out how all campus services are impacted during this strike by checking https://ucsc.edu/advisory, or by calling the campus communications hotline (459-INFO).

Further information will be distributed as soon as it becomes available. Live dining updates will be posted via Twitter at twitter.com/ucscdining.

Finally, if you haven't done so already, please make sure your contact information is current in CruzAlert, the campus's phone-based emergency notification system.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation,

UCSC Dining
