UC Santa Cruz will hold two meetings about Student Housing West next week, providing the campus community and the general public an opportunity to learn more about the project and offer comments on the draft environmental impact report.
The first meeting will be from 6:30–8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, at the Louden Nelson Community Center, 301 Center St., Santa Cruz.
The second meeting will now be held from 5–7 p.m., Thursday, May 3, at Hotel Paradox, 611 Ocean St., Santa Cruz. This meeting has been moved to an off-campus location due to the possibility that access to the campus may be disrupted that day.
Student Housing West—spread over two sites, Heller Drive and Hagar Drive—will provide housing for 3,000 students. Most of the new housing units will support upper division undergraduates and graduate students at the Heller Drive site, though the project will also create new housing for students with families on Hagar Drive as well as a child care center that will serve campus employees, in addition to students.
The comment period on the draft EIR is scheduled to close on May 11.
