ITS Alert: Google Docs Sharing Scam - May 3

To: UC Santa Cruz Community

From: Lisa Bono, Information Technology Services

There is an email scam circulating worldwide including our campus that appears to be from a legitimate email address that looks like someone is trying to share a Google Document with you. If you received this scam, DO NOT click on the blue button in the message or any other links. Just delete it.

UCSC uses Google document sharing extensively. This is a good reminder to never click on a link in an email from an unknown source or that you were not expecting. Always check with the individual who shared a document with you if there is any question about the legitimacy of a message.

Thank you to those people who immediately reported this scam to ITS. Our campus Security Team, as well as Google, have blocked the offending IP addresses.
