Welcome back! As we prepare for the new quarter, I would like to invite you to join us for this year’s Taking UCSC Home (TUCSCH) program! Taking UCSC Home grants a unique opportunity for current UCSC students to develop valuable professional skills while encouraging higher education within their communities. As an ambassador, we ask that you return to your high school and/or community college during spring break (March 27 – 31, 2017) to discuss your experience as a UCSC student and to inspire students to consider UCSC as their next educational institution.
How does the program work? UCSC Admissions Office will offer a step-by-step training on how to contact your former school and set up an appointment, how to answer common UCSC questions, and where to direct students’ questions. We also provide admissions outreach materials for you to use.Goal of TUCSCH? The purpose is to inspire high school and transfer students to attend a university/college, promote and showcase UCSC through your own personal and professional experience, and to become a leader within your community. (You are not expected to be an expert on admissions or UCSC but to serve as an ambassador highlighting your experience as a current UCSC student).
If you, or a group of friends, are interested in participating visit 2017 TUCSCH to apply. Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 6.
If selected, Student Ambassadors attend a mandatory training session on either Friday, February 24 between 5:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. or on Saturday, February 25 between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.Are you a previous participant? We need you too! If you would like to join us again this spring, please log into your volunteer profile at http://admissions.sa.ucsc.edu/volunteers/ using your UCSC e-mail address and the year you will graduate, and click the "Taking UCSC Home 2017" button.
