The University of California is proposing revisions to the systemwide Nondiscrimination and Affirmative Action Policy Regarding Academic and Staff Employment. The revision is intended to reflect recent amendments related to the California Fair Employment and Housing Act and the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs’ pay transparency rule.
In addition to the new legal requirements, the policy has been revised to include language describing free speech and academic freedom protections. This language has already been approved for the Presidential Policy on Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment. The proposed name of this revised policy is, Nondiscrimination, Harassment, and Affirmative Action in the Workplace.
Coincident with the proposed revisions to this systemwide policy, there is one proposed revision to systemwide academic personnel policy, The Faculty Code of Conduct, APM 015. This proposed revision is posted separately on the Academic Personnel Office website at: http://apo.ucsc.edu/policy/policy-under-review.html. Faculty who wish to provide feedback on this proposed revision should submit their comments to Susan Fellows by December 9, 2016 at sfellows@ucsc.edu.
The proposed systemwide policy, Nondiscrimination, Harassment, and Affirmative Action in the Workplace, is posted at: http://ucnet.universityofcalifornia.edu/tools-and-services/administrators/policies/proposed/nondiscrimination.pdf
