National Cyber Security Awareness Month—celebrated every October—is intended to remind and inform students, faculty, and staff about cyber security awareness. The more aware we are, the safer and more resistant and resilient we can be from cyber attacks when they occur.
With the growing potential for being a victim of cyber crime, practicing good cyber security is absolutely critical. Taking time to learn how to stay safer and more secure in our ever-expanding digital lives is one step we can each take to become more cyber aware.
At UC Santa Cruz we focus on National Cyber Security Awareness Month by sharing simple ways to help you protect yourself online, along with actions to take if you are impacted by a breach, cybercrime, or other online issues.
This year, we highlight the following security awareness topics:
• Securing your digital life
• Cyber security in the workplace
• Protecting your mobile devices
• Don’t let identity theft happen to you
Throughout October, look for posters at campus mail stops, articles in Tuesday Newsday, Cyber Security training, and a prominent barn sign and campus banner. Please take time to read these timely messages.
