Craig Reinarman, UC Santa Cruz research professor emeritus of sociology and legal studies, was honored for a career of excellence at the annual convention of the American Sociological Association last week in Seattle.
Reinarman accepted the 2016 “senior scholar award” as he attended meetings and delivered research papers at the ASA’s Society for the Study of Social Problems. He was recommended for the honor by the Drinking and Drugs Division.
The award is based on accomplishments and overall contributions to the sociology of alcohol, drugs, and tobacco. Reinarman has written and published widely on issues of drug use and criminalization of drugs in the United States and abroad.
