Monday, May 23 is the deadline to register to vote in the June 7 primary election.
Important contests for federal, state, and local candidates are on the ballot as well as important initiatives. Voting is a citizen's fundamental right, and it is important to use this opportunity to let your voice be heard.
If you need information on how to register to vote, when to mail your absentee ballot, or polling locations on and off campus please go to http://urelations.ucsc.edu/about/units/government/vote/
If you vote by absentee ballot, your ballot must be in the possession of the elections office by Election Day, June 7. If it arrives after that date, even if postmarked June 7, it will not be counted. If you haven’t mailed your absentee ballot a few days before Election Day, you can drop it off at any polling place in the county you reside in on Election Day. In Santa Cruz County, you can also drop your ballot off at the Santa Cruz County building anytime in the drop box in front of the building.
California state law, University of California policy, and applicable labor agreements allow leave with pay up to a maximum of two hours for voting in a statewide primary or general election if an employee is scheduled to work eight hours or more that day, and if the employee does not have time to vote outside of working hours.
Please be sure to vote in the June 7 primary election.
