Campus community invited to spread radical ideas at TEDx Santa Cruz

Are you involved in a radical collaboration? Is it an idea worth spreading?

If so, you should apply to be a speaker at the 2015 TEDx Santa Cruz Live event, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 24 at the Rio Theatre. It is an opportunity to showcase your ideas and bring them to a live audience and be showcased on YouTube.

This year's event is focused on radical collaborations. Organizers are looking for speakers and performers whose creative and innovative ideas have changed the world, whether near or far. Those interested can nominate themselves or recommend others to speak or perform.

Past speakers from UC Santa Cruz include biology professor Terrie Williams, lecturer Nancy Abrams and physics professor Joel Primack, and computer science lecturer Christopher Yonge.

More information and a speaker nomination form are available online. If you have questions about TEDxSanta Cruz or the speaker nominations process, please contact Suz Howells at suzhowells@ucsc.edu or 459-3775.

Applicants can record their audition tape in Kerr Hall, Room 266 from 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 5. To book a spot, email Howells at suzhowells@ucsc.edu or call her at 459-3775. You may also submit your own previously recorded video. The TEDx team demystifies audition expectations in this video.

TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, and Design. In the past six years, the internationally renowned TED conference organization has grown to include TEDx events-local, self-organized events around the world. UC Santa Cruz is a major sponsor of the April Santa Cruz TEDx event.
