The first in a year-long series of events exploring how to put the UC Santa Cruz Principles of Community into practice is scheduled for Friday, December 5 from noon to 1 p.m. at the Kresge Town Hall. Refreshments will be provided.
The event is part of the UC Santa Cruz Principles of Community Campaign. In keeping with the spirit of promoting a welcoming and inclusive campus climate and in response to key findings in recent campus climate surveys, the Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion within the Chancellor’s Office is collaborating with all 10 Colleges, the Staff Diversity Group, and the UCSC Black Experience Team to launch a comprehensive year-long campaign.
Attendance by students, staff, and faculty is encouraged. Conversations will focus on the principle of “open." The event will also include a presentation by Felicia Rice, book artist, editor, and publisher, and Shelby Graham, lecturer, director, and curator.
The Principles of Community Campaign is supported by the Chancellor and Campus Provost/EVC to promote the UC Santa Cruz Principles of Community designed to promote and protect an environment that values and supports every person—every student, staff and faculty member—in an atmosphere of civility, honesty, cooperation, professionalism and fairness.
