Thousands of new and returning students began moving into college residence halls at UC Santa Cruz last week, continuing through the weekend.
Move-in is always a time of mixed emotions: anticipation, joy, excitement, and even nervousness for students. Nostalgia and perhaps an impending empty-nest syndrome for parents. Add the logistical challenge of "where will I put all this stuff?" and you have a potent combination.
It's a time of great promise as college careers are launched and many life-long friendships are kindled. For many, it may be one's first extended time away from home.
