Online review of ladder rank faculty actions begins May 1

To: UCSC Faculty

From: Chancellor George Blumenthal, Campus Provost/Executive Vice Chancellor Alison Galloway, and Senate Chair Joe Konopelski

We are pleased to announce that the first phase of our transition to an online system for reviewing academic advancement files, DivData Review, will launch on May 1, 2014.

The online process has been well-tested and successful at other UC campuses. This new capability will allow multiple individuals to simultaneously share access to a file. It will be more efficient and more environmentally friendly, too.

The project team, guided by a steering committee made up of divisional and departmental staff and faculty, consulted broadly with the Committee on Academic Personnel and other stakeholders to develop a user-friendly system that supports our current processes.

This first year, DivData Review will be required for all 2014-15 review actions involving ladder rank faculty--assistant, associate, acting and full professors. The process will be familiar: Candidates will provide the same type of content, uploading files directly into the system, and reviewers will have access to the same type of material as always. In the future, the system will be expanded to support additional academic titles and actions.

We want to thank the Academic Personnel Office, Information Technology Services, the project team, and the steering committee for their hard work on this project. Additional information is available on the APO website.
