Annual UCSC & Second Harvest Food Bank Holiday Food Drive

Another holiday season is upon us, and with it another holiday food drive.  The need now is greater than ever. The newest statistics show that one out of every two children in America will require some kind of food assistance in their lifetime.  The county of Santa Cruz is no exception to the rule.

The people who are often the most in need, typically can only afford the lowest quality calories. Studies show that under nourished children face much greater challenges in education and development.

Your contribution of just one dollar to Second Harvest can turn into four healthy meals for a child or family in need.  We hope that you will join us with a contribution that supports our children, our neighbors, and our community.

The Staff Advisory Board and Academic Senate invite you to join us in donating cash and non-perishable food to Second Harvest Food Bank.  Our goal this year is to collect 100,000 meals. (Items needed: canned meat, fruits, vegetables, peanut butter, beans, tuna, stew, rice, pasta, cereal, and fruit juice.)

*For every dollar donated, Second Harvest is able to distribute 4 healthy meals to be in our community that include fresh fruits and vegetables with a low carbon footprint.

A donation envelope will arrive in your mailbox. Please make your check payable to Second Harvest Food Bank and send your slug donation envelope through on-campus mail (red bag). You can also donate around the campus at various barrel collection stations, or online here:  https://www.stayclassy.org/checkout/donation?eid=28684

Returning this year is our raffle sponsored by the UCSC Staff Advisory Board featuring great prizes donated by our campus leaders. All raffle proceeds go to Second Harvest Food Bank.
