A celebration of the life of John Marcum, former Merrill provost and professor emeritus of politics, is set for Saturday, November 2, 2013 at the Merrill College Cultural Center, beginning at 2 p.m.
Marcum, a renowned Africa scholar, longtime UC Santa Cruz professor, and administrator of UC international programs, died September 12 at the age of 86. (See earlier article.)
The program will last about an hour with a reception to follow at the Merrill Provost's house. It is being planned by the Marcum family and friends, and is hosted by Merrill College with the generous support of the Chancellor's Office and the Department of Politics.
Parking has been arranged at Crown and Merrill colleges, (lots 111 and 119); spaces for visitors with special mobility needs have been set aside in both the upper Merrill lot and the lower lot, near the house.
