Faculty, staff, students asked to complete Community Survey

To: UCSC Community

From: Chancellor Blumenthal

We are pleased to invite you to participate in the UCSC Community Survey, the results of which will help us foster a more welcoming, inclusive, and healthy climate on campus.

Click here or go to "survey.ucsc.edu" to log in.

This online survey is part of a University of California systemwide effort to assess and improve the learning, living, and working environment on each campus. Our goal is to foster a culture of respect and trust that will allow faculty, staff, and students to reach their full potential. Your input will give us valuable insight into the student and employee experiences at UCSC.

The survey asks for feedback on your interactions on campus, for your thoughts about campus climate overall, and for your input regarding university actions to support diversity and equity. The results will help shape decisions about how we can help our students and employees to thrive personally and professionally.

Respondents who complete the survey will be eligible to win one of the following prizes.

Student prizes include a $10,000 undergraduate scholarship, $5,000 graduate-student stipend, iPads, a 7-day meal plan for one quarter for an undergraduate, and $75 Flexi Dollar cards.

The college with the highest response rate will receive a $400 award to support its programs.

Prizes for faculty and staff include research grants of $2,000-5,000 for faculty, professional development awards of $2,000 for staff, a 9-month "A" parking permit, iPads, and $75 Flexi Dollar cards for staff.

The survey will be open from January 16 to February 10. Your participation is completely voluntary, and you may skip questions, but we hope you will share your thoughts and experiences. All survey responses will be kept strictly confidential. The utmost care has been taken to ensure that your privacy is protected. For more information, visit survey.ucsc.edu.

The survey takes about 20-30 minutes to complete. You can return to the online survey as often as you need to complete it by going to survey.ucsc.edu to log in. Please note that you cannot view or revise previously submitted responses after you close your browser.

Staff members who don’t have convenient access to a computer may request paper copies in English or Spanish by sending email to odei@ucsc.edu or calling (831) 459-2686.

Thank you for participating in this important study.
